Dear Young Scientist,

welcome to the website of the interact symposium!

The <interact> symposium 2012 – which is organized entirely by PhD students – will bring together young scientists in an inspiring atmosphere in order to present and discuss each other`s scientific work. Furthermore, there will be 2 exciting keynote talks as well as a special lecture at the pre-event.

We are delighted to present Ada Yonath (Nobel Prize in Chemistry for her work on the ribosome) and Gero Miesenboek (Founder of the field of “Optogenetics”) as our keynote speakers for 2012. Furthermore, Herbert Jäckle (Vice-President of the Max-Planck Society) will give an outlook towards “science in the year 2050.”

The symposium will take place on the 30^th of March 2012 at the main building of the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität (LMU). The pre-event is scheduled for the evening of the 29^th of March 2012 at the Old City Hall. Talks and posters by PhD-, master students and young Post-docs will be the main focus of the symposium, serving as a platform for interdisciplinary discussion. The symposium is open to participants from all areas of life science and related fields interested in presenting their work to a broad scientific audience. All contributions are structured into blocks of topics by a pre-selection process. Please refer to our concept page for further information about the idea behind <interact>. Registration and abstract submission is now open until the 17^th of February 2012.
